God’s stake (theme)
Genesis 13:13- Why does God care if we sin?
Do we connect their sins with God?
What business is it of his?

Genesis 20:6- His stake is that he somehow intervened to keep Abimilech from touching Sara

Genesis 18:19- He hears prayers and we don’t know the whole story

Jeremiah 2:29- God takes sin personally: “contending against me” (also like Jesus to Paul)

Matthew 6:14- directly connected to one another’s relationships (so much that Jesus places personal forgiveness in the balance)

Isaiah 43 (see notes): all we bring to God is sin-- so he forgives us for his own name’s sake. We live out the paradox that God’s reputation is relying on how we represent it-- but God’s reputation has nothing to do with my sinfulness. (verses 21 & 25 + Ezekiel 20:44, and Isaiah 48:9--- HIs stake is to CLEAR THE WAY FOR PRAISE. sin dried us out, left us hungry and parched and he has returned life to us!

1 Corinthians 6- Sex and the spirit thing... is a pretty big stake.
